Maharashtra politics

On Sunday, under a major political event in Maharashtra, senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Ajit Pawar, was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister in the Maharashtra government led by Eknath Shinde, while eight other party members took oath as ministers. Commenting on the political events in Maharashtra, AICP’s National Spokesperson Manoj Jha launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. Manoj Jha stated that the Prime Minister wants a democracy without opposition.

In a video message released on Sunday, he said that Ajit Pawar becoming Deputy Chief Minister and the appointment of nine ministers is not an individual’s decision. It has become clear that they are writing a big script. He accused the Prime Minister and his core team of being responsible themselves. He hinted from Bhopal that not a single corrupt person will be spared. So, this is their way of targeting corruption, creating pressure through agencies. They did the same work from Bhopal, and we are witnessing its outcome in Maharashtra today. So, it is evident that the Prime Minister talks about a hundred things, but he wants an opposition-free opposition.

Manoj Jha said that we have consistently been saying that such a distorted face of democracy, pressuring political decisions through the ED (Enforcement Directorate) and IT (Income Tax) is a matter of concern for the Prime Minister. It should also be a matter of concern for himself because the wheel of the chariot is turning. What kind of functioning have these agencies adopted? This will destroy everything. I clearly say, look at the list of ministers, there are many people against whom the ED, IT, and CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) had cases. So, this is a living document of the politics of the Prime Minister, his party’s priority.”
